"Books in Bloom" A Wonderful Success!

 

Congratulations to Bonnie Ion who was the recipient of the Alfa Colley Special Award during the 2011 AAGC Flower Show at the Pittsfield Branch of the Ann Arbor Public Library on Saturday, May 14th. Special thank you to President Marie Smith who organized the event. Community High School student Helen Januszewski interviewed Marie and wrote a nice article about the Flower Show for the Community High School paper, "The Communicator." You may view her comments

Potluck hors d'oeuvres and croquet at the home of Sharon Terry.
 Sept. 14th, Wed. 7:30p.m.
 "Vegetables" A round table conversation at the home of Susan Beecher.
 
Oct. 12th, Wed. 7:30p.m.
"Herbs" with Candie Sorensen at Cobblestone Farm.
 
Nov. 9th, Wed. 7:30p.m.
"Humorous Garden Study" at the home of Chris Rochman.
 
Dec. 10th, Sat. 10-Noon*
"Greens Workshop" with Denise Looker at Matthaei. Potluck follows from Noon - 2p.m. All are invited.
 
March 14th, Wed. 7:30p.m.
"English Gardens" A presentation by Betty Bishop at Matthaei.
 
April 11th – To Be Announced.
 
May 4th, Fri. 6p.m.*
Annual Dinner at the home of Pat McLaughlin.


We would love to see our club grow in the coming year. Invite a friend to one of the meetings or drop a note to any of your neighbors who have an interest in gardening.
 
Board meetings will take place a half hour before each meeting unless otherwise indicated. All members are welcome to attend. The AAGC newsletter will be distributed on a quarterly basis.

 
*Denotes a change in time from regular scheduled meetings.


In Memoriam

We were sorry to hear of the passing of AAGC member Marajean Brooks. Marajean shared slides of her garden at the Sept. 2010 meeting. She was anenthusiastic gardener and she will be missed.
